Birthday Boy is 5 Today!!!!

How many birthday party's can a five year old have? Well, Alex has celebrated his 5th birthday 4 times already and the 5th party is tomorrow(with all his buddies at Ruckers).

Below: A family birthday gathering and we all enjoyed the R2D2 cake. Can you tell Alex loves star wars stuff.
Below: Uncle Bert and Aunt Michaela were in Kamloops a couple of weeks ago and threw a little surprise party for Alex(he loved the star wars transformer and the silly string).
Below: Alex had a birthday party at his daycare and preschool. He went to the Fire Station and had a lot of fun with the water "hose"........
Today we were suppose to go BMXing(racing on Thursday nights); however, it was raining so no racing. Next week!

This Monday Alex had Kindergarten orientation at Lloyd George School. He met his new teacher, Madame Vouix and a new friend Will. He can't wait until September.

Oh yeah, we are moving! We bought a house downtown: close to the school, close to work(hospital) and we even have a park in our backyard. We move in August.

Hope everyone is keeping dry!
Cheers,
The Timewell's

BMX Racing for Alex and Greg!

Last night Alex and Greg tore up the BMX track at MacArthur Park. Alex was absolutely thrilled about his first race! He even walked away with a 2nd place victory. Greg had to take in the action and he competed with the big boys.....he was almost taken out in the turns. What a night!

The Easter Bunny Has Arrived!

Kids are lucky these days.........Alex has already had 3 Easter Egg Hunt and he still has another one tomorrow! Lucky for him, his mother has a sweet tooth, she can help eat "all" the chocolate he has found!

Today, we were at the Wildlife Park for the annual Easter Event: a little time on the bouncy castle, a train ride, check out some wildlife, a little play in the gigantic tree house and of course....the Easter egg hunt!

Tomorrow, we are going to an Ukrainian Easter Party: Egg Derby and lots of food!

Mini Olympics at Stake Lake!

Every year at Stake Lake the Mini Olympics are held for the kids involved in The Olverlander Ski Club. This year we had a sunny day with a some fresh snow and an amazing turn out! After the opening ceremonies everyone took part in 7 stations from ski jumping to relay races. After the events all the kids enjoyed hot dogs and the famous "cookie medals". Then we headed home, but the kids were still very hungry so we went through drive thru at McDonalds.....I was okay with the kids eating McDonalds because they are a major sponsor for the Olympics(so it must be good).

Alex racing on Team Japan.......very focussed as he prepares to jump!
Team Japan: Great Team Spirit!
Jaymie from Team Canada: Warms up before her events!

More Snow........

Over the last couple of days we have had a lot of snow in Kamloops. Last week we went up to Batchelor Heights for some snowmobiling with The Hammond's(for Vanessa's B-day). I decided to take out one of the snowmobiles for a spin(bringing back childhood memories when I used to ride a lot), I was feeling very comfortable so I decided to take Alex for a double. I was going too fast and hit a bump and he smacked his face into the dashboard. That was it: he didn't want Mom to drive anymore and he got off and stuck with Dad! He still complains about my driving....now even in the van!

I was suppose to go to Vancouver to run the First Half Marathon this weekend; however, the roads were a hazard to drive on with all the snow(avalanche warnings and closures). I decided to detour to Vernon with my Kamloops running buddies to run the Vernon Starting BLock 10km.......the entire 10km was covered in snow and ice, what a character run! I don't think I even broke a sweat because I was so afraid of bitting it! The best part of the trip was the stop at Wendy's for that double cheeseburger!!!!

The gang at Vanessa's Snowmobile party! After the snowmobiling we headed down to THe Hammond's for pizza and Karoke! Perry can sing!

A whole month without a BLOG update.....

Where has January gone? This month flew by for The Timemachine's! Alex is busy as usual: he loves to swim; however, since we introduced a pair of goggles to him: he will not surface! He is a little guppy! Every Sunday we head up to "Stake Lake", the local ski club(cross country) for Alex's lessons. Last week was the annual kids race: Alex knocked off 12minutes from his last year time and it was a pleasure having Steve King announce him across the finish line.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!!!!!

Wow 2008! What a great start to the year: I woke up early and met my very reliable running buddy for a 2 hour trail run(more like ankle deep snow run), it was very tough. When Alex and I went to walk Trinket(the mutt) tonight, I couldn't keep up my legs were so tired from the run this am. Greg got out for an afternoon run while Alex and I took down Christmas at our house.

Below are some pictures we took in December:

BC Winter Games Trials and Zones: Alex has his big ski race!

What a fantastic day at Stake Lake Ski Trails! Alex had his first ski race of the year and had a terrific time! He raced in the Atoms Division and they had a grueling 0.9km hilly route, but his hard work paid off with a delicious medal cookie he was given for his strong finish! It was great seeing so many children out for the race!

Alex all serious before his start:
Strong finish:
Well deserved cookie medal and gatorade for the finish!
Next race will be at the end of January when the Overlander Ski Club puts on their famous marathon race. Alex will be moving up to the 2.5km race route! The best part is: Steve King will get to announce Alex across the finish line.....that is so cool!

Until next time........

2 more sleeps til Christmas!!!!!

Wow, things have been busy at The Timewell House! We had over 30 people at our house for Yvonne's birthday/x-mas party......good fun had by all!
We took Alex to the Wildlife Park to look see all the Christmas lights and rode the famous heritage train! We had a blast. Then it was off to The Hammonds House for the present exchange and some great upside down pineapple cake! Alex was in bed a little late: 10:30pm....very late for a 4 year old! But, it is Christmas and he was full of energy(ice cream, cheezies, hot chocolate)!

Below: Alex had his first ski lessons last week! He was a star......with all the kids in his class! I hate to admit it, but I think he is becoming a bit of a "class Clown". Don't know if this is a good thing or not, but he had me in stitches a couple of times! Very witty and clever boy at times! Off to the trails this afternoon: we had some snow, so the trails should be great! Alex has his first ski race next weekend!

Alex is so excited that there is only 2 more chocolates left in his advent calendar: he knows Santa is coming SOON!

Merry Christmas Cheers,
Yvonne, Greg and Alex

Alexander on CTV with Perry's High Five!

Alexander was the feature "athlete" on CTV news with Perry's High Five at 6pm! Alex was so thrilled to see himself on TV! They put the picture from below on TV and mentioned how Alex was a BMX'er and how excited he was about competing next year when he is old enough! We taped the program and will try and put in on the blog to show everyone! I got the call 20 minutes before he was on: so I was running around trying to set up to record it and calling all our relatives! So cool!

Oh yeah, 11 more days til Christmas!

18 days til Christmas.......

Only 18 days til Christmas........It was Sunny and Crisp this morning in Kamloops. Hopefully, Stake Lake Ski Club is open by next week with all the snow that is expected! Last year we were already skiing at this time.

Finally finished all the miniature gingerbread houses' for Alex's Preschool on Monday.......they get to decorate them; hopefully, the candy will end up on the houses instead of their mouths. Alex is currently on sugar rush: he helped us glue the houses together!

Last night Greg and Alex were on the deck shoveling off the snow from the little snowfall we had the other day.

Update tomorrow........

Oh yeah, last night I went to this Cookie exchange with the ladies in "The Benchlands": wow, they can bake! But, I was very impressed with the Martini's that were served: I couldn't even taste the vodka and Cointreau.........however, I felt the side effects this am! Lots of fun was had!

20 days til Christmas.......

Too icy outside to run: Plan B.....treadmill running! I actually love running inside on the treadmill: put on the ipod and no mess'in around.....workout done with no distraction(well sort of: Alex bouncing from couch to couch and hanging from the weight set...."look at me Mom"

Dave Bell trying to make an attempt at BMXing.......sorry Dave, it ain't going to happen! Stick to triathlon's!
20 more days til Christmas: we are doing an official count down to Christmas with Alex's Advent "Chocolate" Calendar! He is so excited to wake up, open up the "day" flap and see what shape the chocolate is in and the best part: eat it! The he sits with his advent calendar for sometime and talks about the next day chocolate and imagines what shape it is going to be. Then he tries to figure out how many days our left til Christmas, by counting the remaining days "unopened". He is 4! Christmas is so exciting for the little ones! And for the parents too: I have just volunteered my time to make 12 miniature gingerbread houses for Alex's preschool(make them from scratch....dough, cut, cook and glue together). Why do the kids get the best part: the decorating with all the candy and icing.

Check out our blog daily with our count down to Christmas at The Timewell House!

The Geologist Crew showed up bright and early with Tim Horton's in hand to start digging in the greenbelt beside our house.....what a set up they have! They hand delivered a hard hat to Alex, so he could officially be part of their crew. It is the afternoon and they are still busy drilling, breaking for coffee and while one crew member works and they other watch!

The Birthday Boy at Oliver.........

Weekend in Oliver: fun had by all! It was that time of the year we took out annual trip to Oliver and stayed at The Lakeside RV Resort. As usual, Alex made a lot of friends and had fun swimming, biking and just playing around. The weather was unbelievably hot: like 38 degrees! Yvonne raced the Oliver Half Ironman and toughed it out in the heat: can you say, "nice back burn!"

Yvonne suffering in the heat:

After Oliver we headed to Rock Creek for a night and did some hiking, biking and sitting around! The rain got the best of us, so we packed up early and headed back to Kamloops.

Greg, Grandpa and Alex around the campfire.
Alex camping!
